My Climbing Philosophy

My very first coach and climbing mentor had a saying: Climb smart. Iā€™m not certain what it meant to her, but to me, it had many meanings.

Take your time.

Breathe.

Be intentional.

Climbers are people first, and people are complex things. We are often limited not by our physical capabilities, but by the barriers we create for ourselves.

As a coach, I help athletes identify unhelpful habits and create a strategy that combines mental, physical, and technical components to best suit your needs.

With all of the available information on training, it can be easy to think that more is better. In my experience, climbers often succeed not by adding more to their training, but by simplifying it and thinking about the bigger picture.

One of my core values is consistent and reliable communication. Life happens, and so your training needs to be adaptable. When things change, I help adapt your strategy as soon as possible to best suit your needs. Training with me keeps you in charge!

My training combines skill-oriented drills with general strength training as well as mental and tactical recommendations. Training is performed and updated on a weekly basis with access to prompt feedback and video demonstrations.
