About Me

I’m Matt.

I’m a coach for climbers of all abilities looking to push their performance to the next level.

I’ve been a climber for over 15 years. I have competed at the international level and climbed up to V14 outdoors. I started climbing at 8 years old and was quickly introduced to competitive climbing. When I was 14, I moved to Boone, North Carolina where I fell in love with outdoor climbing, specifically bouldering, which is still my main focus.

I received a degree in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and I am an NASM certified personal trainer.

I have worked with competitive youth athletes across multiple teams for over 6 years and have offered private in-person coaching for recreational climbers of all ages. During my time as a coach, I have learned that athletes are most successful when they are given the information and skills to do the coaching themselves.

I strive to empower athletes with the tools for success. I value education that is backed by research, self efficacy, and collaboration above all else. Working with me means thinking critically about what holds you back and identifying an actionable approach to address those things in a way that is realistic for you and tailored to your goals.

I challenge athletes to think smarter about their training and climbing. With all of the available information when it comes to training, it can be overwhelming to sift through the noise. I vow to help athletes understand the why behind training and how it relates to their goals.

I offer one-off consultations, digital coaching, and personalized training plans. Each of which takes into account your training background, schedule, and goals. Wherever you’re at in your life or your climbing, there is a path to success.

You don’t need fixing.
